About Salerno's Cafe

Wandering through Old Forge, a charming little town known for its cozy vibes and culinary gems, one might stumble across Salerno's Cafe, a delightful spot nestled on 139 Moosic Rd. This place, unassuming yet inviting, is where culinary dreams come true, especially for those who appreciate a well-prepared meal in a warm, friendly setting.

Entering Salerno's, visitors are greeted by the aroma of something special brewing, promising comfort from the very first whiff. The decor is rustic but not pretentious, echoing the spirit of a true neighborhood eatery, and it speaks to anyone who enjoys the charm of places that prioritize comfort and community over fashion statements. Function over form here, and it’s winning hearts left and right.

The menu reads like a love letter to comfort food, each dish with a backstory that feels like a hug in culinary form. A must-try is the homemade pasta, boasting freshness that suggests a commitment to craft and quality. Tossed in a variety of house-made sauces, it captivates both locals and those passing through for the first time. There are rave reviews about the classic chicken Parmesan and the seafood risotto, both making a strong case for why Salerno's might just be the crown jewel in the town's dining scene.

But save some room for dessert if there’s any left after that hearty meal. A slice of the house tiramisu or a serving of gelato cleanses the palate while wrapping up the dining experience on a high note. Each spoonful or forkful invites guests back for more, making it nearly impossible to resist the temptation for repeat visits.

Customer reviews paint Salerno's as a place where the words comfort, deliciousness, and value converge. Locals often describe it as the kind of place that hooks visitors on the first visit, thanks to friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere that makes dining here a pleasant habit. The staff, attentive and ever-smiling, seem to know just the right moment to refill a drink or share a hearty laugh, enhancing the experience with their genuine hospitality.

Old Forge's Salerno's Cafe embodies the heart of Italian-American cuisine with a twist that makes every meal memorable. On the radar for anyone seeking a homey, inviting atmosphere paired with quality dishes that leave the taste buds craving more, Salerno's truly feels like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Great old school cafe. Bar on one side and nice dinner cafe on the other completely separated. We loved the “red” here as the flavors mixed in with the cheese were really good. The “white” was fantastic as well. Super thick and melty. The waitress could not have been nicer and more helpful.

Quaint old Tavern restaurant unchanged for decades, but that's the charm. You're coming here for the food. A lot of the pizza places in Old Forge have lost their "pizzazz "... many times because the owners died and didn't pass on the exact recipies. Not Salernos. Still moderately priced with great food and fast service. Since old Mary Gingerelli passed and took her perfect recipe for sofrito with her, this has become the next best in town. They also have one of the best square red pizzas around. Had mine half sausage. If you eat in house , they will provide you with hot seeds, oregano, and garlic powder. Besides the basic salt and pepper. They have several beers on tap and an array of basic wines. TV in the bar for its patrons. Got a tray of red half sausage and a dinner of sofrito and drinks for 43. And change. This the average person can afford. But , please don't forget to tip yor hard working wait staff

New ownership, but same great food. Jumbo wings, homemade pizza, very reasonable prices, and a laid back environment. 11/10

I was in from Texas to visit family in Old Forge a few months ago. I grew up on Salerno's pizza and couldn't wait to stop in and to pick up a couple of trays. It was even better than I remembered. The thick, but airy crust and cheese toppings...so, so good. The sauce is what makes it though. I haven't had a pizza that had sauce as good as Salerno's. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and get there, muy pronto. I can't wait to make another trip to Old Forge and Salerno's!
